The Best First Points Card to Start With

“How to Start Traveling Nearly Free Using Credit Card Points”

The 15-Minute Points Plan: Let’s Get Started in less than 15 minutes…

🔶 FIRST 5 MINUTES: Pick and Apply for Your First Travel Credit Card – Why wait?

Goal: Choose the right starter card to earn your first travel points fast. 100k bonus happening now with my favorite card below!

✅ Do This First:

  1. Apply for the Chase Sapphire Preferred (it’s the one I recommend 9 out of 10 times):
    • 75,000 bonus points when you get the card after spending $5,000 in 3 months (the points will come after the close of the first statement after you hit the spend). This should be regular spending like car insurance, groceries, etc.
    • The BEST and most FLEXIBLE points card by far of all points cards
    • Points transfer to Southwest, Hyatt, United, and more
    • $95 annual fee easily covered with the $100 hotel credit to use though Chase, a year of Apple TV free, Free Doordash PLUS $10 a month to use at DoorDash for groceries and covers cost of $120 TSA Precheck
    • Use this referral link, please, as a thank you for showing you how to use points: https://www.referyourchasecard.com/19y/ZJPS4L9D0G
  1. Already have the Chase card? Just message me on Instagram or email me at [email protected] if you already have this card for your next best one.

💬 “I helped a mom of 4 use this strategy to book a FREE Hawaii trip the same year she started earning points!”

🟢 SECOND 5 MINUTES WHEN YOUR CARD ARRIVES! We will now set Up Your Systems for Easy Points.

Goal: Start earning on everything you already pay for.

✅ Do This: Log in to your Chase account (easier on a computer than the app for the initial setup)

  1. Move your bills + subscriptions to your new travel card (may take a bit longer than 5 minutes, depending on how many bills you have)
    • Car insurance, utilities, subscriptions, groceries, gas, daycare, etc.
  1. Set up autopay on your card to avoid interest and late fees.(Do NOT use this strategy if you do not pay off your credit cards every month – replace debit with credit cards for all spending, only if you pay off each month!
  1. Create or log into your 3 must-have travel reward accounts (if you do not already have these accounts set up may take longer than 5 minutes) :
  1. Link the three or more travel accounts with your Chase account so it is ready to go. If you need help doing that, see instructions here. NEVER BOOK IN PORTAL – we will always transfer points out, and I will show you how! We can use other partners too, but just getting you started with a few!

🛠️ Bonus tip: These are the programs where your Chase points go farthest — e.g., 3 Hyatt nights for the same points as 1 Marriott night!

🔷 THIRD 5 MINUTES: Multiply Your Points + Get Trip Ideas Goal: Set yourself up for your first trip (and your next!).

Goal: Stay organized, make the most of your annual fee + set yourself up for your first trip (and your next!).

✅ Do This:

  1. Download the free Travel Freely app – this helps you:
    1. Track your cards, bonuses, and renewal dates
    2. Avoid annual fee surprises
    3. Know exactly when to open your next card
  1. Refer your spouse or family member to the same card using your referral link in the Chase app or create a link here  — you’ll both earn big bonuses and can combine points! If you do this you will have over 150,000 points to use for travel next year
  1. Message me on Instagram @golovebe with the words “Points Trip Planner” — I’ll send you a custom ChatGPT tool that helps plan your next trip with points.
  1. Need ideas? I’ll also send you some of my favorite trips I’ve booked with points — like girls’ trip to London + Scotland for under $600 each and Hawaii for a family of 4 for less than $500.

💬 “Let’s make your bucket list trip happen — sooner than you think.”

🎉 Hooray!  Excited for you to make this happen and travel for nearly free in 2026!  You’re officially on your way to your first (or next!) nearly free trip — and Miles the Puffin is cheering you on too!  Let me know if you have any questions!
